Does anyone know if a military general discharge can keep their ID cards?

If you are discharged, short of retiring from the military, then you do not keep any ID card. Or I should say, you might keep it, but it serves no purpose.

Does anyone know if a military general discharge can keep their ID cards?
No, you can not. Only retired members of the military get to keep their ID.

Kengem-If you are ever caught with your ID or the military finds out you still have it. It is a $10,000 and jail time.

Frog-In the IRR you do not receive a reservist ID, you receive a green ID, which does not state active or reserve. I had one for a year and a half.
Reply:With a general discharge, the last thing I would worry about is the ID card. Make sure you don't loose VA benefits. Some are subject to the type of discharge you receive from the military.
Reply:No you can't. It is a federal offense to have a military ID card in your possession if you are not in the military.
Reply:You may keep your ID card if you are taking terminal leave but it is your responsibility to turn it back in when your id expires.
Reply:You will have to turn in your ID card when you are discharged. If you'll be in the IRR you'll get a reservist ID.
Reply:Are you a General and asking that question ??

If so I feel sorry for our troops having people like you in charge of them
Reply:When you are discharged you will have to surrender your ID.
Reply:I have been discharged and have my military ID card in my possession. So what?
Reply:no you may not keep your id card
Reply:no you cannot unless it was a retirement...
