Do you use a shredder or tear in little pieces postal mail that others can for credit cards or steal our ID?

How would someone put together postal mail that was ripped up by hand into little pieces? Is using a shredder all that important?

yes shred it. you should see what I have found people trying to piece back together. if you are desperate enough not to have to work, you will try anything.
Reply:If you don't have a shredder,anything with your name and address should be cut up.. The most effective way to dispose of any correspondence, is a cross cut shredder..Its almost impossible to reassemble information..Most crosscut shredders also have a slot for old or no longer used credit cards, and even Cd's.. Fairly inexpensive, and well worth the money.. You cant take the chance in these times, because identity theft is a reality ,and a real threat!! Be Safe,not Sorry!!! SOLOMON
Reply:I tear the mail into little pieces, especially the parts of the mail that have my name and other identification information on it. No one is going to spend time putting that back together, if it is ripped up like that.
Reply:I just put it in the trash ans when it is full, I take it all outside, put a little gas on it and light it with a torch- no one can put it back together
Reply:I use a shredder at work. That way they get shredded again when the truck picks them up.
Reply:They could, but it wouldn't really be worth their time as your neighbor probably doesn't rip or shred theirs.





The shredder does bring a piece of mind though.
Reply:Why not get security and save time by using a shredding service? The bonus is everything gets recycled.
Reply:Either way...when it's time to toss the scraps, throw them into two separate trash cans.
Reply:You should always destroy - method is up to you - credit card solicitations, etc.





Even MORE important, don't leave your outbound mail in your mail box. Deposit it in a regular USPS mail box or at a post office. Mail can easily be stolen and important details like your checking account number can be compromised.
Reply:Either or both but I think I would recommend a combination of both. Shred it first then tear up the shredder ribbons and mix all together with other junk mail you have done the same thing to.
