In need of our retired military ID cards-Danville, IL?

Hubby is retired Navy and we moved to Danville, IL when he was offered a job here. We left his old duty station before we were eligible to get the new cards. We now NEED our cards but I don't know where the closest place to get them is. What do we need to take along? His old command made us mail our old IDs to them in order to get his DD214, which we never got. Please help us if you can:) Thanks a bunch!

First call his last command and demand to talk to the PN that separated him. I can bet you 99.9% that his DD214 is still sitting on their desk somewhere. You will need PAGE 1 and PAGE 4 (your copies) of your DD214 a lot in your future. If they tell you the mailed it, call the BS flag on them and talk to their PNC (Now called PSC since the rating mergers). I was a PN and I cannot believe what a lazy bunch of skaters do this job but it is a fact that you need to protect yourself from. Get your DD214 ASAP.

Anyway, I have included a link for you below that has ALL the military bases in the country so take a look and find the one closest to you. You can go to ANY kind of military base to get your ID's not just Navy. But I can almost bet you will also need a copy of his DD214 to get the ID's plus to get onto base since you don't have any ID's at all now. Great Lakes is a drive, but it is 204 miles from Danville and Scott AFB is also a large installation in IL.

Good luck and go beat the lazy PN that still has your DD214 :+)

Reply:Great Lakes is app. 3 and half hours from you and 203 miles away. Take a weekend trip. Theres lots to see u there anyways. And if you dont have the DD214 just take another form of govt. id so you can properly identify yourselves.
Reply:Most Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Reserve Centers can and will process retired ID's. I'm 150 miles from the closest base and have never had a problem getting ID's.

Ask any military recruiter where the closest reserve center is located that does ID's.

If you are in DEERS you don't need anything other than a picture ID to get your new military ID.
Reply:You need to get your retired military ID cards issued at a military base. You'll need his DD Form 214, and possibly your marriage certificate since you no longer have your old ID cards, as well as picture ID for both of you (such as a driver's license). You'll need to stop at the gate for a pass to get on base, since you don't have ID cards, and the guards can tell you how to get to the Pass %26amp; ID office from there.
Reply:Check with this unit located in Danville
