Where do you get the best novelty(fake) Id cards from??

I live in oxford so any local good ones to collect or ordering of the internet?? any prices!!

Where do you get the best novelty(fake) Id cards from??
I found some absolutely adorable ID cards on a website called "Chloe Cards". They did driver's licenses for my dogs! They look identical to the regular state licenses. They also do "wanted" posters and other cute items. You just download or mail them a picture and the info.

You've got summat to hide, son; What is it about supporters of ID cards, and their perpetually used cliche?

People who are against ID cards - do we have 'anything to hide', or are we just vexed at the loss of our privacy? And if so, is that something far different than having 'summat to hide'?

You've got summat to hide, son; What is it about supporters of ID cards, and their perpetually used cliche?
ID cards are the next best thing to having a personal tracker fitted.

It's not the fact of what is on the card that matters - it is in what situations you will be required to produce it.

Give this system a few years to be accepted and the card will need to be produced everywhere you go. That way you can be tracked and logged. And with the tax payers money that the powers that be squander every year spending a few billion more on a central intelligence network to collect and collate the information will not be a problem.

this system was introduced in an office block in Europe a few years ago for "security purposes". Each individual had a card and to open any door within the building the card had to be used. Within weeks staff were being dismissed and warned over length of time in toilets, time taken between two points, etc. Total surveillance, control and lack of privacy became the norm.

"Nothing to hide - Nothing to fear" Words that will go down in history and infamy as the catch phrase of New Labour!!!!!!!
Reply:If the government controlled the criminals coming into this country you wouldn't need id cards,

and 2bee its not lady like to discus your ablutions on here
Reply:The problem is not if, or who, has anything they wish to hide, in this fairly benign system of government but once the plan is up and running, it will be in place, ready for misuse by any government, of any type, in the future. So that when your 'Mr I've-got-nothing-to-hide' reaches seventy, he might find himself cut down by a government that favours euthanasia as a form of tax cutting.
Reply:After several fiascos with lost data discs I'm not telling them anything I don't want them to know - easy as that ! -
Reply:The "nothing to hide, nothing to fear" argument does not stand up to close scrutiny, and is just an easy sound bite for supporters of ID cards when attempting to defend the indefensible. Honest, upstanding citizens must never be treated like criminals. Besides, it has now become obvious that, whether we have nothing to hide or not, the government cannot be trusted with our personal details.
Reply:think of them as parrots, and think of nothing to hide as poly wants a cracker!! and who's a pretty boy then....and you've just about summed it all up. i wish i could figure out how to sling a cover on their cage.
Reply:Personally, I have loads to hide... heheh.

the best answer against the sheep who bleat this line is to say to them...

"So in that case you would willingly accept 24/7 live internet broadcast of your every move at home and at work?"

Nothing To Hide = Nothing to Fear after all.
Reply:Sounds like the normal tactics of a control freak government ! Can they be trusted with the information ?

It doesn't look like it.
Reply:“If you’ve got nothing to hide........” is the weakest element in the pro ID card argument In fact it’s no argument at all It’s emotive rather than logical. Just an idle attempt to stifle objections and gloss over the need for proper justification and the democratic endorsement of the people for it.Not very far away from Kafka’ s “Do you feel guilty? You must have done something because you are here." The ID card argument is about far more than “just” the privacy of the private citizen although that is still surely worth preserving. Privacy amongst other things is about not having to register your personal details with every Tom Dick or Harry for administrative convenience or “just in case”.None of us can live in the UK 2008 without leaving an information trail. That in itself is not the problem because until now in the the majority of cases that information is transactional . I hand it over in return for some specific purpose and usually in return for some benefit I could not otherwise access without providing it.OK you have no choice if you come to the attention of the criminal justice system but that is still in a sense ‘transactional’. Blanket inclusion of the whole of the population on centralised database(s) is a wholly different matter. It dramatically alters the relationship between the individual and the State. The Government has yet to make its case on this and “if you have nothing to hide...” is no more justification than “just in case....”
Reply:The more I read of immigration in the UK the more I consider the global ID as a good idea. As you know, we in the states have an incredible immigration debacle. For instance, I've an ID and I'm a citizen...yet there are millions of Mexicans here w/ false ID's. I've nothing to hide, but the illegals do...just the fact that they're illegals. Good people? Yes. Illegal immigrants? Yes. All peoples migrate, it's our nature to go where life may be better. Seems to me a system to track all persons (global ID) would be justified for more reasons than I can explain here.
Reply:It is less to do with 'having something to hide' and more to do with asolute outrage that the government thinks it is acceptable to hold so much information about its subjects. Especially considering the fiascos we've seen recently with information going missing.
Reply:That old chestnut gets used all the time, its not a case of hiding anything, its the fact that our government cant even be trusted to keep simple data about us, can they really be surprised that people are against this!
Reply:The government have pushd the ID card legislation through on the back of the London bombings apparently to counter terrorism. This raises questions in itself. However generally speaking it is a 'big brother' policy that lacks substance. Its slowly being 'eased' in over the next few years. Its not a case of having something to hide. More of a case of having nothing to hide. Why should I have all my details available to whoever want to look at them? Those amongst us who are up to no good will undoubtedly find a way around them anyway. Live off the grid I say! lmao
Reply:Get real, I don't have a damn thing to hide, I just don't want the gov't to know when I take a crap or walk down the street. It's no ones business but my own.
Reply:If it goes ahead it will cost Billions to set up ( I thought they were skint ). But think about it, they will insist it is renewed every 5 years or so, bringing in a lot of money.

It`s another stealth tax.

Why do I have 4 id cards( paper ) in my car insurance policy paper from Statefarm ??

Why do I have 4 Id papers from my statefarm agent ?

They all look similar too . Am I supposed to keep one with me , one in my car , one in a safe deposit or something ?

Why do I have 4 id cards( paper ) in my car insurance policy paper from Statefarm ??
state farm does do the overkill.

mine only gives me two.

put one in the car and one in your wallet in case you are driving someone else's car and are pulled over or in an accident.

put the other two away for safekeeping in case you lose one of the others. They give you multiple ones to cover multiple cars or drivers. if you only have one car and you are the only driver then you just have extra.
Reply:One for your car, one for your wallet, keep one at home, and one is extra in case you lose one of the others. Consider yourself lucky. I have State Farm and I only get two. :) It could have been a mistake...it probably wont happen again, just make sure all the information is the same and then dont worry about it!
Reply:I work for State Farm. Typically we only send two unless more are requested. It could have been an error. Double check the expiration dates to be sure that none of them are out of date.

You're given two so that you may keep one in your glove box and one in your wallet, like everybody else said.

Feel free to discard the extras if you don't want to store them. Your agent could always give you more if you needed more.
Reply:I put one in the glove box, and one in my wallet in case I'm driving some other vehicle (like a rental). The cards are all the same if you only insure one car. If you insure more than one car, they may be for your different vehicles.
Reply:They are for additional drivers or if you want to keep them in different places.
Reply:lol..you only need 1..i tear mine up or throw in the car in case i lose my wallet

Are the soldiers who's ID cards were recently found MIA or POW?

I get the ArmyTimes and read online about these soldiers who have died. I remember last year there were two other soldiers kidnapped and killed and when they found them there were IED's around their bodies. Now, they have found one soldiers body in the river and just the ID cards of the other two. When I look at casualties and MIA/POW stats, these soldiers are not listed. Why are they not listed as MIA/POW and if you can provide some sources or materials that show they are it would be appreciated?

Are the soldiers who's ID cards were recently found MIA or POW?
MIA, until proved otherwise.
Reply:you are correct the two sodiers, Specialist Jimmenez, and Private Fouty, are not classified as MIA/POW. common sense would tell us that they are MIA/POW., but there is always a chance that these soldiers just ran away on there own. i do not believe this is the case , until the DOD has actual proof that they are dead or being held as prisoner , their status will remain as is. if they fled on their own they would be UA and not MIA...AS OF SATURDAY EVENING THE DOD ANNOUNCED THE STATUS OF THESE 2 SOLDIERS..(DUSTWUN)...Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown)
Reply:Could be that they just haven't updated the list yet. In my opinion they are POW, but could still be considered MIA by military standards. Even if they were AWOL, they would still be MIA. (I don't believe them to be deserters/AWOL.)

If they are in E%26amp;E mode, they are still MIA and not AWOL.

Is it true that ALL Americans are going to be issued national ID cards by May of 2008?

Is it also true that these cards will contain RFID technology to track everyday activities? Is it also true that you will be required to carry these by law?

Is it true that ALL Americans are going to be issued national ID cards by May of 2008?
The answer is yes and no. The issue was passed by Congress in May 2005 and is called the Real ID Act. It mandates that states begin to issue the new IDs in 2008. States are not required by law to make the change, but any state refusing will doom their citizens. You will not be able to fly, take trains, visit federal building etc. The cards will have RFID chips implanted. RFID technology is already being used by government. All new passports issued have an RFID chip.

To those who say "who cares", I say this. I don't have a problem with the national ID card, because like you I have nothing to hide. However, the RFID technology is disturbing. These chips contain too much personal identifying information and anyone with a scanner can interogate these chips by just getting within range. This is a major security issue regarding our personal information. In an age where identity theft has become an epidemic problem these new uses of technology do not bode well for the future. It distresses me that so many people are just willing to overlook the risks involved. My question is this. Do the benefits gained by the issuance of these cards outweigh the potential future dangers of the technology?

To those who don't believe this is real I am posting a link. It has all the basic information about the program (when it passed, what it entails, etc.). If you don't like Wikipedia links a cursory search on Real ID Act on Google will provide numerous other sources on the subject.

Reply:Who really cares? You already have a social security number. You must carry a state issued picture id or drivers license. Your cell phone has rfid, so does most cars produced today. There are even false teeth with these chips in them. This id will be just a new drivers license with more information on it. Hell you even have to have a ss and dl to get a bank account. In Oklahoma to get a new DL you must give a sample of DNA and etended fingerprinting. I just happen to agree. I also think when a child is born, their dna should be placed into a data base. This along with everyones dna sample taken to receive a drivers license. Sure would help in solving crimes.

Once you do go through the trouble of getting your documents together, the DMV will make high-resolution digital copies and put them onto a computer network that can be accessed by any DMV worker, anywhere in the country. The data on your license or ID card will be able to be called-up by any federal or state agency, anywhere. And your information will be put in either a chip or unencrypted barcode on the back, making it easy for anyone to skim your personal information.

With so many databases sharing your information, all it takes is for one breach, anywhere in this massive data collection sharing system, and your information is out in the open, forever.

Ready to renew your license? No matter how long you've had your drivers license, you'll have to get ahold of a Social Security Card with your full legal name on it (Married? Better fix your maiden name!), a certified copy of your birth certificate, and a ton of other documents just to renew or replace your license. Don't have them? That's your problem.

According to Homeland Security's lowball guesstimates, it'll cost over 23 billion dollars to create this national ID card system. Almost 8 billion dollars of this will be paid by individual citizens through higher costs to obtain a REAL ID drivers license. Another 14.6 billion dollars for this is to be shouldered by the individual states

The REAL ID Act has never been debated on the US Senate floor. They've never talked about it in any committee. Heck, most of them haven't even read it! Yet they passed it unanimously, no questions asked back in 2005.

Ya better stand up for yourselves....NOW.

When the News says: San Francisco approves ID cards for illegals, do they mean the People or the government?

Were the people given a proposition on this? If they were, dont they REALIZE Mexican illegals are going to flock to their once beautiful city

When the News says: San Francisco approves ID cards for illegals, do they mean the People or the government?
You have to realize even though there are a few good people who live in San Francisco, most people in that city hate this nation, hate everything about America, so anything they know the nation hates they are for. Remeber this is the same city that said it is ok for gay kids to have an assless chaps clubs but said JROTC was wrong.

Yeah the whole left coast is messed the people in the interior are nice.. but the coast cept San Diego and Orange county are totally living on zoo-krypton somewhere, its all the marijuana haze hanging over the city.. and you thought it was fog huh? ;-)
Reply:San Fran already proclaims they're a sanctuary city. They won't even help authorities nail them on the job.
Reply:Why would they flock to San Francisco for ID cards? It doesn't make them citizens or extend any other rights, it's only an ID card.

Maybe what San Franciscans realize is that in many cases, Immigrants are more "American" than Americans are. They desire democracy, they believe in the "American Way" and have come here to work hard and to better themselves and their families. They want an opportunity for their children to be educated.

Too many Americans have forgotten what it is to be "American" and believe they are entitled to the advantages of this country without having to work to make it better for everyone. Taking is all they care about and they are threatened by those who they perceive as taking what's rightfully theirs.

It would be a monumental waste of taxpayers money.

And do I trust Labour to keep my personal information safe. Haha. Government officials leave documents and laptops lying about on trains like other people leave used tickets and chocolate wrappers.

Id cards, is it time for them and could they have saved time during yesterdays airport fiasco.?

I personally think id cards are a good idea, they cant make anything worse can they?

Id cards, is it time for them and could they have saved time during yesterdays airport fiasco.?
ID cards only help when you know who you are looking for. I don't think it's always known who is going to be a threat to an airline. It would be very easy for someone to slip through the net if you relied completely on ID cards, so I think the same level of checks would have to have been done yesterday.

Also, remember we're talking about an airport, and what does everybody take to an airport? Their passport! So to an extent, everyone had an ID card with them (well, a passport!) during yesterday's "fiasco" as you put it ;)

Ticket holders should receive background checks to see if they match any suspected terrorists or have any unusual characteristics in their profile. It would be costly to implement a plan like this, but hey, we can just reduce some of the social program funding and kick the freeloaders out to work. In my opinion it's the governments way of scamming yet more money out of us. We all have to have either an ID card or passport and guess what the passport prices are going up yet again! It will cost me nearly £200 to get passports for my family, I can't even afford to go shopping this week!
Reply:ID cards are too easy to forge.

People just better get used to delays at airports. At least you know when you get on a plane that it won't be used as a weapon.
Reply:ID cards are just small plastic passports. But governments are unwiling to pay to make them forge-proof (just go to Usenet, alt.2600.fake-id and see how kids get fake IDs all the time).

In the USA and Canada, driving licenses are quasi-ID cards. So what?
Reply:What about the frauds? It makes it easier, because criminals will ALWAYS get round the system. And when checks are relaxed to wave people in with their dna on a fake id, we're letting even more 'just anybodies' in; or out.
Reply:ID cards don't change anything.
Reply:They are a knee jerk reaction and would have done nothing to alleviate yesterdays situation.

Do drivers licenses make the roads 100% safe?

All forms of i.d. can be stolen, duplicated, ignored or worked around if people are determined enough. No system is infallible.

Are you aware that the govt. intends to sell the information on your card to any business that can pay? How is that even legal? Its spamming and junk mail that has been condoned by your govt, using 'confidential' info.

Its not just the i.d. card system that people object to, its the way that the system will be run.

Pray that we don't end up with a fascist govt or coup in the future. Its happened in France and Spain and Germany, don't imagine it can't happen here. Its bad enough having a problem with criminals without also having a problem with your own government.

Reply:In the US a national ID card is already a requirement - to be implemented by each state by May, 2008. Its called the "Real ID Act".

After that date, noone will be allowed to fly or enter a federal facility without it. The act requires that the card be tied to some form of biometrics, such as a thumb print or retinal scan. It also requires that all states adopt the same card reading device, whether it be bar code, magnetic strip, or possibly RFID.

The US Department of Homeland Security has been authorized to assign the card for whatever purposes it deems most suitable. Once the standardized reading method is agreed upon, it could also be used as a health card, a banking card, or for use by whatever businesses or organizations lobby to have it linked to their database to meet their identification needs.

Currently, in addition to giving the bearer permission to fly and access federal property, it will also contain social security ID, driving records, and criminal records (domestic law enforcement is currently working to link their databases to a central system).

The card was recommended by the 9/11 Commission as a means to prevent future terror attacks. But in reality, 99.9999% of the time the card won't be monitoring terrorists. It will spend the vast majority of it's time monitoring YOU.
Reply:We already have ID cards in the form of National Insurance numbers, so really what it comes down to is what kind of information is going to be stored on it and who will be able to read this information.

Government use only doesnt really apply anymore since they sold the DVLA list on to a private company!

When did the california department of vehicles implement the fingerprint law for id cards and drivers license?

Apparently in 1986, although the second site listed below implies 1997. But I had a California license in the 80s and had to give my fingerprint.

No, I do not trust the UK.gov to do anything properly and the reason I do not trust them is simply because they make such a hash of everything.

One of the most important aspects of government, is to keep the Civil Service on side. This present UK.gov had dumped thousands of Civil Servants, left whole departments with untrained staff and so it goes.

My advice to any UK.gov is to look after your Civil Servants.

Do you really think that the Civil Service lost all those records of some 25million people by mistake? I do not. I think this was an act of sabotage carried by by disgruntled Civil Servants acting in their own best interests and that of the people.

I would not worry about the lost information - it's probably been burnt in the incinerater by now anyway.

Why are expired ID cards not accepted in bars?

If it still has your picture on it, what's the problem?

Especially if the person is 37 years old...

Why are expired ID cards not accepted in bars?
good question. even if you give it to someone else, it still has your picture on it.
Reply:Because they don't want the person to give their ID to someone else to use once it expires. If my ID expires, they don't want me to give it to a friends since I have a new one. It prevents people from using other IDs. After all, I am a lot less likely to give up my only (valid) ID, than I am to give someone my expired ID.

If and when the US Government decides to implement National ID cards?

Will you embrace the idea or revolt against the tyranny?

If you will embrace it, why?

If and when the US Government decides to implement National ID cards?
They have taken the first step already. Where have you been?

When the Social Security Act was passed, one of the major provisions was that the Social Security Number was never to be used for any other purpose.

Try doing anything important today without that number and see how far you get.

Nest will be putting an intelligent stripe on the back to contain all of your personal, medical and financial data. Of course, it will also have a GPS chip in it, so that they can find you any time they want to.

How can you read the coded strip on id cards and the like. is there a way ?

Sure. You can buy card readers for as little as $30.

A card is capable of having three tracks of information. Most have at least two.

That said, just because you can read it, doesn't mean you'll learn anything from it. The stuff written on the card itself is usually encrypted, or a key to something else that has to be processed by the bank or whatever.

For instance, my ATM card has my name and one or two other things in clear text on the card, but the rest of it is just a big string of encrypted information. So it's not like you can look at it and get my PIN number or anything from it.

How can you read the coded strip on id cards and the like. is there a way ?
There are at least 2 methods. First. tell me why I should tell you in a public forum..

Do children need ID cards to check in @ the airport?

Traveling with 3 kids.

Do children need ID cards to check in @ the airport?
Children traveling with their parents don't need IDs, they get through on the IDs of their parents or traveling companions.

Children traveling as unaccompanied minors (UMs) probably need something.
Reply:I got I.D.'s for my two daughters when they flew. You never know when they will need them. How old are your kids? Mine was teenagers. I would get them a state i.d. it would only cost about $5.00.
Reply:I've never had to show any id for my kids. You should start thinking about getting them a passport, will help for future purpose ie driving license, etc...

School Cafeteria Lunch forcing ID cards upon students?

Recently, my school in NYS had implemented ID cards for students that must be visible at all times. They are also required to be able to buy lunch from the cafeteria. No ID card, no food, and you must register for a temporary card which will give you detention. This poses a problem when people lose cards, etc. Is this completely acceptable? I'm sure other schools might have it much worse, it's just an inconvenience.

School Cafeteria Lunch forcing ID cards upon students?
I'm sure the ID's are ultimately to ensure your safety, so that they can tell at a glance when someone is around who doesn't belong. This wasn't necessary when I was a young'un, because we all knew each other, but these days. . .

Anyway, once you get used to it, it'll be no problem at all. Just treat it with the same care as you do any precious, hard-to-replace belonging (you don't misplace your car keys a whole lot, do you?), and you'll be fine.
Reply:Really? I feel so sorry for you! I'm part of one of the other schools that uses I.D. cards, and has been for about 4 years now. However, there are no penalties for not having your I.D. card, except for waiting longer in line (there are a LOT of people without cards) They just have to type in their numbr on the PIN pad

I really appreciate the school's system; Our I.D. cards are used for lunch, the library, checking grades on the computer, as well as any other school-related

function.

You can order a new card at any time, but they cost $3.50.

The school has actually talked of using a thumb-print scanner, but the

student tech team is still working on it.

From what I've experienced, your school doesn't sound very nice!

It may be just because that the school is trying something new, so they may ease up on the rules later.

I also understand the funding problems with inner-city schools. While I may not sound nice, your school could soon abandon the I.D. cards or tighten the rules even more.
Reply:Yeah it totally sucks, in my high school you not only need your card to get lunch, you must also have your card to check out books in the school library, and to get a hall pass to go anywhere in the school, including the restroom, the worst part is that if you lose it, you HAVE to pay three dollars to get a new one, to get any of those privileges back, with lunch though, for now, they use the IDs to scan you in the computer to get to your account, but if you don't have it, you can type in your student ID number which takes forever because the number pads are screwed up and everyone else in line gets pissed.

I hope it helped you. I know it can be a pain, hang in there.
Reply:just make sure you hold on to your card.
Reply:It's a security issue in my school. We want to be sure everyone there really belongs there. If a student forgets or loses a card, they pay $1 for a temporary. If they need a new ID card, it costs $5.

You'll love this part. Freshmen and sophomores are on closed campus. They're not allowed to leave the building at lunch time. Their ID cards are bright yellow so they can be identified more easily.
Reply:My school has ID's that we have to use for lunch, but lunch is included in the tuition. The reason is that when the ID is scanned, a person checks to see if we have 3 or more food groups. The schools get government money for that.
Reply:And many people are just plain careless.

It seems like unnecessary regimentation
Reply:it has been going on down here for a long time and it is for security reasons hun and no it is keeping these children and thier classmates, teachers etc. safe. By the way do you think that it is acceptable that all people driving must have thier license not only is it keeping them safe it is teaching them reponsibility for thier future.
Reply:I LIKE the idea. It helps kids learn "RESPONSIBILITY." Remember that word, folks? I could go on...but I won't. I'm hungry!

Good answer...Zebra4
Reply:That's so they can identify the bodies when the detestable cuisine finally kills somebody!
Reply:What was the motivation of doing it in the first place?
Reply:Who knows if ANYTHING is "completely acceptable"; sometimes people just have to make compromises for convenience sake.
Reply:I agree with the author who just said that "nothing is completely acceptable." It's not acceptable to have anybody walking in and out of school anytime they want. It's not acceptable to have street kids getting a free lunch. It's not OK to check books out of the library to people you're not even sure are students. It's not acceptable for students to be in the hall wherever and whenever they please. If this is what it takes to run a school well so that children can actually learn without being hassled just getting from one room to the other, then I'm all for it.

You think this card system gets people up in smoke; wait until they put GPS locators on the cards with alarms that trip when you're not where you're supposed to be!
Reply:I think it's perfectly acceptable. Kids need to learn how to be responsible and this is a perfect way to teach them that. In junior high, high school and college I had school ID's that I had to carry with me at all times It wasn't that hard to remember to take it with me everyday. It's not really that much of an inconvenience either.

Anyone know a good site that deals in selling ID cards?

so i can buy like over 18+ products, yes im over 18

Anyone know a good site that deals in selling ID cards?
Why not get your provisional driving licence. It's total proof of ID and when you start driving you already have it. It's like £36 and really worth it. And as I said it will come in handy when you want to start driving lessons.
Reply:They may be able to help you.

Do you think ID cards will decrease crime rates?

ID cards, with biometric information, are said to be able to cut down on fraud, and decrease the time from crime to capture, thanks to genetic information that would be stored on one.

However, is it not true that passports were meant to cut down on illlegal immigration, wasn't chip and pin technology meant to decrease fraud. Can't all systems be corrupted? Discuss

Do you think ID cards will decrease crime rates?
I have to admit. i have always been for ID cards. As a servig London police officer, i thought it would make my life easier. If i stopped you for not wearing a seatbelt, and wanted to give you a ticket(not that i've given anyone a traffic ticket in the last 5 years, too busy), i would need to confirm your name and address so that a summons could be served to you in the post.

With an ID card, this would mean that i did not have to arrest you to be able to confirm your identity.

However, i am concerned about the possibility for fraud, but i would still be wiling to take the chance if it meant that i wouldn't have to make unecesary arrests
Reply:ID cards are just the next step in surrendering the bit of freedom that you have not yet lost to date. Every time you buy something or go somewhere, the government will be able to track you. ID cards have been used in Germany for decades, but the government has been very responsible in protecting individual rights. I would not trust any government to abide by self imposed rules.
Reply:No
Reply:No... if anything they'll make it worse... ID theft is easy with such things!
Reply:no people forge credit cards easily now so i am sure they will forge id cards.

i think they would be usefull though, just little ones you could carry on a keyring would do.
Reply:No. I think the idea of putting my genetic and medical information on an object that could easily be lost or stolen is truly scary.
Reply:The ID card system will be just as open to fraud as any other. It is a total waste of money. Nothing is going to reduce crime rates in this country.
Reply:lol - do you think taking away guns will decrease the crime rate? Do you think passing laws decreases the crime rate?

The answer to all of these questions is a resounding NO! No law has ever decrease the crime rate, taking aways guns only affect those of us who follow the law in the first place. ID cards will only result in a entire new illicit industry to make fake ID's.

Every system that can be corrupted or hacked into, will be corrupted and hacked into. The reason is simple:

1. Find me a civil servant who is technically savvy enough to design a "foolproof" system, and I will show you 100 people with the technically savvy enough to hack it.

2. Every new law encourages people to break it.
Reply:I think ID cards will be a growth industry...in Tijuana. A physical barrier is going to be necessary at this point to keep mexicans IN mexico. And, re-thinking our cross-border commerce, too.
Reply:I am truely against ID cards. Must state that straight away. I am not opposed to them because of infringments to my liberty, I think they are a complete waste of time and money.

We are going to have biometeric passports soon. Do you think that'll stop people coming in illegally? Since coming in hidden in a box on the back of a lorry doen't really require a passport.

Also, those commiting crimes can be detained by police and their identity verified, unless the police are to use stop and search on everyone popping to the shops, I fail to see how having biometeric information on a bit of plastic will help reduce crime.

Also, the only people that the police want to catch/prevent are the very same criminals that will easily circumvent the systems on the card.

Having looked carefully at all the reasons for and against, I have decided that it should become law to carry a recent utility bill around at all times.

Sure my passport can get me through the border chechpoints of some of the worst oligarchies and dictatorships in the world, but that's not good enough for the man who runs my local video store. And he looks like he knows a thing or two

We got window locks and burlar alarms to stop thieves, we got con men to distract us while we got our stuff nicked.

We go improved security in our cars, we got car jacking

We got chip and pin, we get more and more cloning of cards.

We get ID cards...........
Reply:It is possible to buy fake passports, driving licenses,MOTs and almost anything else you can imagine so ID cards will not solve anything.
Reply:No. Very little crime is ID related. Also unless the cards are compulsory, anyone who wants to commit a crime that is ID-related will say he hasn't got an ID card and will offer the same forged stuff he would now.

Pointless waste of money if you ask me.
Reply:ID cards will be forged, thus creating more problems.
Reply:No...
Reply:Theres only one way to find out, im sure we will all find out.

Why are so many people against ID cards?

surely if you are a law abiding citizen it can only be a good thing?

Why are so many people against ID cards?
Britain has a long and honourable tradition that people be permitted to travel without impediment throughout the kingdom.

For this reason, the Police have to have reasonable cause to stop and demand identity. In other words, an offence has to have been committed, or reasonably thought to be about to be committed.

This aspect of British Law enforcement is reinforced by the banning of "stop and search" under the old "Sus Laws", which were routinely abused by the Police, in the harassment of coloured people.

The unstated subtext of compulsory ID cards is that the above restrictions would be abolished. Police would be able to stop and search anybody, using the pretext of "checking identity"!

The use of ID cards is routinely abused in most European Countries, to control the movement of individuals. In Germany, for example, ID data is used to covertly monitor a range of personal habits, including political affiliations and even where one drinks!
Reply:There are plenty of evil-minded politicians who would, if they could, manipulate ID cards for their own ends. We need no more evidence that there are many corrupt, incompetent and evil politicians who exist. Do we need any more reasons for not wanting ID cards?
Reply:Big brother attitude, cost and a general mistrust of how the government would use the information.
Reply:With open boarders, Whats the point?
Reply:because its yet another way of continuously monitoring all of us. Plus the fact that the whole thing is going to cost about £20billion, which i think is far too much for any ID card especially considering most of us already have some sort of ID if the police or anyone else wanted proof of who we are.
Reply:25 million peoples bank details, names, addresses, National Insurance Numbers lost by an incompetent government clerk is a good reason.

Should we have cameras strapped to our heads with microphones?

No?

Why, got something to hide?

European ID cards just say name address and a photo. These proposed cards have a chip containing personal data available to dozens of agencies with no way of knowing just what it says. I have a passport, driving licence and credit cards. Why do I need this expensive intrusion?
Reply:I think it really depends on the info stored on it. Name, address, date and place of birth and a picture. shouldn't need anything else, just enough to prove you are who you say you are and you are allowed to be in the country your in. ............no wait that's you driving license!!!!!
Reply:No, even if you are law abiding the information that is stored and collected about you is just wrong. They may as well tattoo a bar code to your head.
Reply:Until the govt decides you no longer abide by their laws. No govt should be trusted.
Reply:During WW2 we all had to carry ID cards at all times. You could be detained by the Police for not carrying one. I think it is a good move to have ID cards, Because it sorts the Illegal Immigrants from the legal ones. You cannot get an ID card if you are here Illegally. What I don't like about the idea is that we will have to pay for them.
Reply:Would you want your information avasilable to everybody that hacks for profit or steals a cd from the government. I know I don`t ansd thats without taking privacy and civil freedom issues out of the equation.
Reply:What kind of ID card are we talking about:

Driver's License: yes

Green Card: yes

New ID as citizens of the US: no
Reply:I'm not.

I lived in the US years ago and found ID to be very useful.

I'm sure it can be abused but hey can't everything.
Reply:Not at all. I am not a servant of the state or of any government. This government is trying fundamentally to alter the relationship between government and governed, and to extend its powers more and more into every aspect of our lives. I object more than anything to the database which will be prey to all kinds of unintended consequences of unauthorised abuse. Government (and other bodies) have already shown that they cannot be trusted to keep personal data secure.
Reply:Can we put a CCTV in your house?

No? Well, if you've nothing to hide, then why not?
Reply:surely...but most see it as big brother taking over their lives....guilty conscience i say.
Reply:NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

i repeat: NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Reply:I used to share your view, then I woke up. The whole idea is based on social control. Every "law abiding" citizen in this country has enough methods of identifying themselves. The important point here is that the majority do not carry their driving licence or passport etc. around with them in case of theft. Does the government intend for it also to be law that we carry them at all times? If the answer is no then why bother? I can just as quickly return to my home and produce any evidence of my identity required.

If the answer is yes, then I am being "controlled", dictated to, not to put too fine a point on it. .As for it being of any benefit in reducing the number of illegals who come here, I very much doubt it would make any difference. They have obviously "worked" their way into the system already in order to find jobs, housing, etc. Let's say a policeman stops an illegal and asks for his/her ID card. They don't have one, what will happen? They will not be deported, but simply join the thousands of others waiting for their "applications" to be processed. Step in Human Rights act and hey presto! ID card issued. It is reported in todays press that this government has given N.I. insurance numbers to thousands of illegal immigrants in yet another blunder by Minister for Work and Pensions Peter Hain. Need I go on? Trust politicians to do the job properly? If you are still in favour I can only ask that you think again...

Reply:Really not sure to be honest, I think it's a great idea.

People are probably just pissy about "wasting their tax money" or some other sun-fuelled crap.

We're not exactly losing any privacy.... they know what they need to know anyway... the hell does it matter if we all have cards to prove it?

News flash: You live in the country, you pay taxes (supposedly) ... you're already working for the state.

Other countries have it, and they're all for the better.

Don't like it ? Move to Ibiza. Rather my taxes spent on something productive than pumping livers or chasing hidden crooks.
Reply:Because it gets ridiculous how much information they need to know. We aren't allowed any privacy and if we are law abiding citizens then why do they need our ID cards?

Also did you know the government can check your bank account to see if your unlawfully making money. They check how much money you've got in your bank.

It just shows how the small percentage of the population who are criminals ruin the country for everyone.
Reply:This is the commonly spouted rubbish used by the government.

News Flash once the government have acquired all the information required for the ID card, you as a law abiding citizen will have no control over were that information will be sent/sold or used.

We live in a so call democracy were the population have the right to representation within the government. However in five, ten, twenty years time? Who knows we may live under the rule of a cruel invading army.

How will they use this information?

Sounds like an exaggeration, however think of this point. Most if not all the Jews in Germany before the war were law abiding citizens, they were required by law to confirm there religious beliefs and we all know what happened next.

In South Africa the ID book was used as a method of repression against the blacks. Failure to have one resulted in arrest.

If the government has its way the future is very bleak, new born children will be DNA sampled at birth, retinal scans will be compulsory, ID card will have been superseded with under the skin implants that not only confirm a persons ID but can also track the location.

Don't give into the government on this one, its the thin edge of the wedge.

Ja.
Reply:I was all in favour of ID cards, if you have nothing to hide, why fear them. They would solve alot of false benefit claims, credit card theft etc.,but the recent loss of sensitive personal material by government departments is a cause for concern because an ID card would contain everything.
Reply:We already have plenty of types of id that we pay for, this government want to charge us even more for another form of id, and then every few years we will have to renew it and the cost to us would have continued going up, just ANOTHER TAX is what it is really.

Reply:because red tape can catch you out- accidents happen and then your put in the same category as a drug dealer or rapest or paedophile- I mean, what if you drive and accidentally veer into a bus lane or worse, if someone else gets done for something and you get the blame- as happens in ID fraud, then how do you erase that?! and your damned for life, whatever you do, wherever you go people can find out that you have on yout id record that you committed a crime and you never did, it was someone else who stole your identity or an authority figure who wanted revenge and added to your record... and you dont have the option to hold this back at a job interview, its all submitted, weather you did or didnt do anything doesnt actually matter.

Even law abiding citizens are in trouble there!
Reply:No it's a case of Big Brother and the state pushing it's nose into everyones business.
Reply:The reason the government gives for introducing them is complete ........ it's just an excuse for them to know more about us, and to make it look as if they are doing something about terrorism, when they actually don't have a clue.

A piece of plastic is not going to stop a bomb blowing you up.

Terrorists will easily find a way of faking them, and the whole thing will cost billions in wasted money and bureacratic mismanagement.

On recent performance, I wouldn't trust this government with anything.
Reply:I know people are gonna disagree but apparantly we 500,000 illegals it would show who was who.but apart from that i can see no other reason really.
Reply:I see absolutely no problem with ID cards and cannot understand what realistic objections people have against them. The main objection seems to be a sort of 'big brother' threat, but if you are using the card to prove your identity and you are doing nothing illegal, what is the problem? Properly issued and used they will help to cut down on underage sales of alcohol, tobacco, knives etc, reduce benefit fraud, reduce credit card fraud, help the police to identify the real names of petty criminals and vandals and make lots of issues where you are aked for proof of identity much simpler. Many, many countries have them, why are we waiting so long to introduce them here?

Every time we use a store loyalty card, go on the internet or answer a survey, somebody somewhere knows what we are doing and might use that information. With an ID card, do the conspiracy theorists think that Cheltenham is going to be following everyones microchip around?

I can just feel the onset of thumbs down from little Englanders. Daily Mail Readers and misguided rebels.
Reply:For me its weird that the UK hasnt got any id cards yet.

The rest of Europe has them, and its a must to take them wherever you go.

Its also much easier to keep track on people in that way, and more system is added to the way our social and taxes services works.

But hey...as to everything new, people tends to have more distance, once they are used to it, it makes no difference.

How will ID cards stop terrorism?

We keep being told we have to have them because they are essential for our security, but no-one ever explained how. Do you know?!

How will ID cards stop terrorism?
they wont
Reply:it will say on the card in big writing "DO NOT PERFORM ACTS OF TERRORISM PLEASE" simple yet effective.
Reply:ID Cards in UK will not stop terrorism nor reduce crime by one iota. Everyone else in Europe already have ID cards, their crime rates are no better or worse as a result.

Its just a load of UK.gov spin.

You can avoid having to have the new ID card if you buy a UK Passport this year, 2007. It will act as an ID card until it runs out in c2017 at which point, sorry to say, you'll have to get the UKID-Card.

ID cards can't stop terrorism - all they can do is provide another control for 'the powers' to ensure we all pay appropriate levels of tax, and don't claim too much benefit.

They will, however, prevent the Albanian guy down the road from cleaning windows if he has to be honest about his citizenship - damn shame.
Reply:They won't. Not even putting a dent in the prevention. It's a waste of money and time.
Reply:Domestic and international terrorist have for long been reliant upon the availability of forged official documents, which facilitate their movement through internal domestic boundaries and across international borders. Internationally organised criminal gang/members rely on similar 'forged documentation' to facilitate their movement and transport of their illicit goods across national and international borders. Modern ID Cards, cannot be cloned.

Thus the perceived 'treat' is greatly reduced.

OK.
Reply:It hasn't stopped it in countries where ID cards are mandatory, Israel for instance.

ID cards are not about stopping terrorism, crime etc, they are about controlling people and rationing freedom.

Why do state governments keep trying to issue illegal aliens ID cards?

If they do, I should tell everyone out here in Asia to get one when they visit the US. It could be a great promotion for the US.

2008 Visit America Year!

See the sites!

Try the food!

Learn about the culture!

And if that's not enough get a US ID and a driver's license while you are there.

Tour America in 2008! It's Red, White, and YOU!

Why do state governments keep trying to issue illegal aliens ID cards?
It's called pandering. It's mostly Democrats who back such measures because most illegal immigrants are believed to support liberal agendas.
Reply:Cause they get the work done
Reply:Because they don't want undocumented immigrants wandering the streets and since Illegal immigration is against federal law, not state law, and the federal government is failing in their responsibility, the states are doing whatever they can to identify who is doing what in their states.
Reply:Taxes and possibly votes. The altruistic reasons they try and tell you, is tarred and feathered by the first reasons I gave you.

What are some safety hazards when using neck lanyards for ID cards?

the obvious is strangulation. That's why a large percentage of them are break away incase it gets caught in a machine or grabbed by another person it will break apart and not strangle the wearer. Though not all are break away. Another may be too much strain on a neck if someone tends to hang too much weight off of it (i.e. keys, pins, glasses... etc)

What are some safety hazards when using neck lanyards for ID cards?
Newer lanyards are designed with safety in mind and will release if jerked or pulled on. This is normally explained on the tag that comes with the lanyard that everyone throws away with out reading!!

What would you say if you could have your bank card, ID/ credit cards, drivers ID, passport on a micro chip?

If you could have a micro chip put on your hand or forehead that could not even be seen and never have to carry money or id again, would you?

If you said yes, then you will be one of the many in the end days that falls for this. If you accept this then you will have an hardened heart turn in family , friends, and when you die go to hell. Enternal suffering. It is in the Bible.

What would you say if you could have your bank card, ID/ credit cards, drivers ID, passport on a micro chip?
Which bible is that, with words like "bank card, drivers ID, micro chip"?
Reply:no personally i would not have a micro chip. however a unique tatoo at birth that can be used like a barcode in a grocery store, now that would be something. however i see no one me included that would actually go for anything like that.

well not in two or three times my life time. but who knows and who cares?

as for the bible you bleeding sheep. get a brain cell or two. and realise the bible was written decades after alleged events and even then they have no proof that anything in the book was real.

ok places may have been real, names may have been real.

but the basic idea is stupidity writen for the obediance of fools who were read these stories in order to brain wash them in to conforming to the social or group leaders rules and what they wanted for society.

however if you do accept there is a god, where did he or she come from and then their creator etc. think about it how far do you go back?

yes someone or something created the world and universe we are only now after millenia are starting to understand the basics, as for answering the question is the bible just fiction or is it based on any element of truth? no one knows now that was lost thousands of years ago with those who are credited with writing it. remember the general public were illiterate fools for the most part, so the governing classes needed some way to explain the laws or rules they wanted their society to live by.

i could go on but i will not for now.

I may be 100% wrong but the above is my personal opinion on the subject.
Reply:I don't let 2,000 year old campfire stories dictate how I lead my life.

Do all ID cards have a signature?

Number of licenses and ID cards?

Is there a site that will tell me the number of driver's licenses and ID cards issued by each state in the US?

Number of licenses and ID cards?
I do not think so

Should illegal immigrants receive special ID cards to give them use of our public services?

In New Haven, CT they are issuing ID cards to illegal immigrants so they can use all the public services setup for American citizens. Is this the first step in amnesty?

I don't think illegals should receive anything the same as we do. I know they are human beings, but they are sucking our services and resources dry that are meant for citizens

Should illegal immigrants receive special ID cards to give them use of our public services?
My husband is still "illegal" we are waiting for his paper work to end, and I think that NO illegal immigrant should get benefits designed for US citizens....and MOST US citizens should not get them either!!!

It totally burns me to see a food stamp user buying name brands, or getting Kobe beef with MY tax dollars!
Reply:I'm w/ you buddy!
Reply:At the same time many States and towns are passing laws to keep Illegal Aliens from getting services...but every time they do the ACLU tries to sue them...example: Athens, AL passed a law that if you are pulled over by the police and you do not have a Driver License or Insurance, you lose your car...and the cop can check to see if you are here legally...
Reply:Heck NOOOOOOO
Reply:I agree, I have a problem with the welfare system for Americans (I think too much is given to people who do not make a genuine effort to stay off public assistance)so I definitely have a problem with illegals getting these services.

What I would do, rather than deny them medical and humanitarian services, is put in place a pricing system, if you want something, this is how much it will cost. Bottom line, the administrative cost and some of the medical bill would be responsibility of the illegal immigrant. I think that is fair.....The bottom line if you want to solve illegal immigration, you need to take away jobs and human services away, then they will be forced to leave, and if they really want to come back to the U.S, they will have to start the process legally, just like everyone else is instructed to.
Reply:I don't think so, either.

If people don't choose to follow our laws, then they don't choose to receive all of the benefits that are afforded to those that DO follow our laws.

I think their opinions will change when they are flooded with illegal immigrants wishing to use their public assistance programs. When they are suddenly having trouble making their budgets, they may change their tune.

Better yet - aren't they violating federal law by instating this program? Well, wouldn't it be funny if they suddenly stopped receiving any federal money for their budget. . .
Reply:NO, of course not. The allowed this to happen only because New Haven has such high rate of illegals(10% of the entire population of the city)and citizens who were illegals before and they were able to get the law makers/ officials to pass this farce of a law.

ishootdogs:

your screen name says it all!!!
Reply:NOOO Well maybe they will go there when made to leave other states that are enforcing the laws.
Reply:Great Ideal CT, maybe we should give the drug dealers a special ID next, so we know which one is in with the law. Personally, I think that when a city is so desperate for new people living there, that they break the law by giving status to ILLEGAL people, over Federal law, that maybe (god forbid) it is time for people with common sense to start doing something about it. Like VOTE them out and put people in that care about our towns, cities, and states and NOT the business that line their wallets. Glad I live in TN where they at least passed a law forcing local police departments to ENFORCE the law. But then again, the local police ingore it too.
Reply:no. they should not be able to use anything in this country
Reply:No.
Reply:Only if ICE gets all the collected info... and then uses it!
Reply:It is insane!
Reply:They shouldn't get anything free.

I make about 18,000/yr and I'm uneligible for the services my taxes pay for. I'm barely above poverty and frequently fall behind on bills even though I live very frugally.

Why should these guys who broke the law to get here in the first place get a free ride when I, as a tax-paying citizen, can't even get my teeth looked at?
Reply:Yes I think it,s a great idea..When they show up for the freebies lock every one of them up and deport them ASAP!! Every city should adopt this method...
Reply:They shouldn't get special treatment for anything! They are not suppose to be here and they have NO RIGHTS!
Reply:No! I believe that those issuing those ID's are breaking our laws, too.
Reply:NO! I cannot believe this is happening. Well, when the federal government decides to enforce the immigration laws, at least they will have the names and address of these illegals! Deport them all!
Reply:If they know that they are illigal immigrant why not get rid of them instead of letting them continue to receive free benefits and hurting the American system. What they need to do is make them get an American citizenship and get a job so they can start paying taxes like the rest of us and start helping America instead of hurting it. If they do not want to be an American citizen, then find someone else to mooch off of.
Reply:Nope... they should get back home (wherever that is)
Reply:No,they should recieve nothing except a one way ticket home!
Reply:Illegal aliens should be given a ride out of the country. They are breaking the law. If we break the law, we get punished, not a free ride.
Reply:It's wrong. Illegal is illegal. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. All they should receive is a trip home. We should bill their home nations for the expense, and if they refuse to pay, reduce foreign aid to those nations commiserately.
Reply:This is considered Aiding and abetting criminals. There needs to be something done to stop this. I agree, that if places continue to do these things then they should have federal services withheld until they stop pursuing these types of crimes.
Reply:No.

It's such a ridiculous idea that I don't think I have to justify my answer here. They're illegal. The end.
Reply:I see nothing wrong with the I D's themselves.I didn't read anything that said it was for public services. The only thing I read was about getting drivers licenses and bank accounts.Which again I don't see a problem with.We might as well have them on paper somewhere they aren't going away any time soon.
Reply:Please link to where it says that card is intended to be used for public services. I think it is merely for identification purposes. In order to qualify for assistance programs, you need a social security number. Not an Id alone. In Wisconsin you also need: Id, birth certificate, ss card, proof or rent or mortgage, electric bill, gas bill, school records for any children under 18 (to prove they are enrolled full time), and, a myriad of other documents. Obviously, Undocumented wouldn't be able to produce these.

*** From the website: The Elm City Resident Card, originally designed to help undocumented immigrants avoid getting robbed or assaulted, will be a combination of identification, debit card, library card, and a way to pay the parking meter, for all city residents young and old *****

So, they will be entitled to park and check out books? WOW! My freedoms are so offended! Please read article.
Reply:they still cant get in the welfare (or the free methadone) line or get a drivers license with those IDs, and lastly they still cant legally purchase guns...the world isnt going to end
Reply:It's important they get these IDs ... Otherwise US Citizens might try to get services for free.

Lived in Hawaii and came across a group of men with ID cards that seem to get them out of trouble! Any clue?

Translation was Valley of the Giants. So I was told!

It had two arms/hands shaking at the wrist.

It had a pictice of them on it.

Now get this.... I was given a friends ID and was told if I ever got in Trouble show him the ID... Speeding, 57 miles over outside Nanakuli, Ouaha, Hawaii. I was told I get away with murder, card was thrown back at me. Was it the card or was it the name on the card? The card was written all in Hawaiian. This happened back in the 1980's. And no, I don't keep in touch. NO WAY... I have much more I know but after 20 years, Yes I'm still scared!!!!!

Lived in Hawaii and came across a group of men with ID cards that seem to get them out of trouble! Any clue?
It sounds like it was probably a prank played on you by your friend. If it was really some sort of get-away-with-murder if you belong to this "secret society," you wouldn't be here to tell us right now. You'd have known too much, and you know what happens to people who know too much. You would have gotten Vince Fostered. The joke was on you.
Reply:there are a few scams out there where people buy into an organization, it sounds like it's run like a union. They try to say if you ever get in trouble they will send a group of high class lawyers down to defend you and if you show cops a card saying your a part of this organization they will let you off because they are scared of the high price lawyers. It's a scam where they make you pay all this money to be part of that group.
Reply:Dont believe all that you are told be very careful. People think nothing of pranks which may even cost you your life. Trust your own judgement and take time to think. Nothing comes for free or without a pricetag.

Who actually thinks that ID cards will reduce illegal immigration?

Good question sir.. I believe it will provide tighter control on entry and exist of legal border crossing only. By definition, illegal immigration occurs by illegal pessage ways. The ID cards don't apply to illegal pessage ways..right ? If someone from Mexico and Canada is datermined to cross the broder from a dark ally, they still will, ragardless of the use of an ID card at the legal crossings i.e. a border. The two issues are totally separate.

Who actually thinks that ID cards will reduce illegal immigration?
It will slow it down for a little while until they figure out how to make good fake ones just like they do now with the Green cards
Reply:stamp their foreheads lol jk
Reply:Where you ID cards you have fake ID'S
Reply:No, I don't believe it will. Illegal immigration will continue and employers will continue to hire them until/unless the government gets firm and consistent with charging and prosecuting the employers who hire illegals.
Reply:Nobody in his/her real mind. It is just a way to make money.
Reply:The cards are supposedly tamper-proof, but I still don't like it. Does that mean EVERYONE has to have an ID card? Do we have to carry them all the time and show them to any authority figure that wants to see them? Does this sound like Nazi Germany to you?
Reply:All previous state and government issue ID cards are "tamper proof" but I have seen military id, drivers license, state id, and social security cards all faked. ID cards for illegals are just a waste of our tax money and they will be another source for fake IDs.
Reply:No, this plan will not work. The illegals already steal social security numbers and identities, ruining innocent people's lives while the pro illegal crowd makes excuses for them.
Reply:I do. They will have biometric information such as fingerprints that can be run through the ICE database to say if the person is here legally.

It won't be perfect, but they will be hard to forge and employers will have fewer excuses.

Nothing will STOP illegal immigration, but our country hasn't even tried to lately. If there is enforcement and border security, it will at least slow the flow.
Reply:They taking this caste hatred too far. In any case, i only hope they,ve carefully considered the enormous gain they are making from makung people populate their land that would have otherwise be begging for visitor.
Reply:No. It's a smarmy proposition. Doesn't anyone remember getting fake I.D.'s to get into clubs when you were underage? Seriously.....however, it will bring money into the economy! Someone has to make those fake documents. LOL
Reply:I think the plan would never work
Reply:The end of the day it all depends on what information is going to be stored, how that information is going to be used, and who has access to it? In my opinion its a white elephant waiting to happen, it expensive to set up and would be even more expensive to police. There must be a better alternative I personally think setting up a independent Immigration Service away from the Home Office would be a better alternative and give them policing powers so they can do the job properly too?

How long before Id cards are made compulsory ,to help combat the terrorist threat?

not that i think they will do any much good at all.

How long before Id cards are made compulsory ,to help combat the terrorist threat?
The billions of pounds that are going to be spent on these cards would be better put into the pot of MI5 and MI6 so they can do there job better.

Does Gordon Brown seriously think they will help with the threat of terrorism? He is mistaken. ID cards didn't help prevent the Madrid bombings.

We have enough surveillance techniques, just not enough secret service personal to process it all.

We have passports, more cctv in this country per head of population than any other country, we have mobile phones hat can be tracked, email log in, NI numbers, Benefit details, immigration details, car plate recognition cameras, medical records, Internet access monitoring, etc etc

This has more info on how to oppose the introduction of ID cards in Britain.
Reply:most people don't want them,

so they will be snuck in when we arnt looking,

by our lovely government who are only looking after our best interest.
Reply:There are no terrorists, its just another way to get the civillian population to bow down to governments for protection. This is control. Ever heard of Problem Reation Solution?

"A further example of how elites throughout history commit acts of terrorism as a pretext to create enemies and corral populations behind a tyrannical agenda"

Thats it, I'm done for
Reply:Hopefully never.
Reply:I hope never. They would not work. Even counterfeit-proof ID cards can be sold on the black market. Then we would be in a worse situation, only with less freedom.
Reply:They are a wast of time and MONEY

anything that can be made can be bought or copied the ID cards have nothing to do with terrorism it is all about the big eye ( paranoid possibly ) but sick of being observed when I have done nothing wrong is a violation of my basic human rights I am only amazed that the racism card hasn't been played on this one YET
Reply:The terrorist threat is just the excuse to bring them in. They won't stop any terrorism.
Reply:Generally speaking I cannot ever beleive in Communism or with Russia and some of their internal policies.Apart from one that has worked well for them and still does. That of an internal passport showing all the personal details of the Holder incl his/her marriage status. Can well imagine some of comments you may have but something in that direction has to be done to stem illegals running around commiting crimes and stealing the Benefits from our cash strapped system.
Reply:It's called the Real ID Act. George Bush Jr. signed it into "law" back in 2005 and it was suppose to take effect in may of 2008 but their have been some debate on what Items should be on this National ID Card. Currently right now we are looking at sometime in 2009 This new ID thing will be implemented. This card supposedly will better "secure" America and make it easier to find "terrorist" and "illegals". They say it will be mandatory to have. I hear they will still issue regular license and other ID but it will not be "valid identification" meaning you can't use public transportation like the plane, trains, buses, etc. It will replace your Drivers License. You will not be able to open an account without one, enter government buildings, or even get a job! It does nothing for the American Citizen but make life more difficult to survive. So your right, it won't do much good.
Reply:When the population of UK agrees to accepting them. We don't have to. Exactly how does having an I.D. card prevent terrorism? Nobody has enlightened me. The recent terrorists i.e. Doctors were known and were working here, obviously they passed as o.k., but nobody knew what was in their minds, how would them carrying an i.d. card prevented their terrorism. What is the real ulterior reason for this push for I.D. cards? Would the card be carrying an e- tag so they would know exactly where u r at a given time.
Reply:well it will come but like you will it do any good don't think so some how
Reply:the only way to stop being attacked is to stop attacking others first.

Pull the troops out. There are more than 1000 civilians died in Iraq every month. We declared war on them unprovoked. They were provoked to attack us.

Stop the war, please.
