not that i think they will do any much good at all.

How long before Id cards are made compulsory ,to help combat the terrorist threat?
The billions of pounds that are going to be spent on these cards would be better put into the pot of MI5 and MI6 so they can do there job better.


Does Gordon Brown seriously think they will help with the threat of terrorism? He is mistaken. ID cards didn't help prevent the Madrid bombings.


We have enough surveillance techniques, just not enough secret service personal to process it all.


We have passports, more cctv in this country per head of population than any other country, we have mobile phones hat can be tracked, email log in, NI numbers, Benefit details, immigration details, car plate recognition cameras, medical records, Internet access monitoring, etc etc

Reply:I hope never. They would not work. Even counterfeit-proof ID cards can be sold on the black market. Then we would be in a worse situation, only with less freedom.

anything that can be made can be bought or copied the ID cards have nothing to do with terrorism it is all about the big eye ( paranoid possibly ) but sick of being observed when I have done nothing wrong is a violation of my basic human rights I am only amazed that the racism card hasn't been played on this one YET
Reply:The terrorist threat is just the excuse to bring them in. They won't stop any terrorism.
Reply:Generally speaking I cannot ever beleive in Communism or with Russia and some of their internal policies.Apart from one that has worked well for them and still does.That of an internal passport showing all the personal details of the Holder incl his/her marriage status.Can well imagine some of comments you may have but something in that direction has to be done to stem illegals running around commiting crimes and stealing the Benefits from our cash strapped system.
Reply:It's called the Real ID Act. George Bush Jr. signed it into "law" back in 2005 and it was suppose to take effect in may of 2008 but their have been some debate on what Items should be on this National ID Card. Currently right now we are looking at sometime in 2009 This new ID thing will be implemented. This card supposedly will better "secure" America and make it easier to find "terrorist" and "illegals". They say it will be mandatory to have. I hear they will still issue regular license and other ID but it will not be "valid identification" meaning you can't use public transportation like the plane, trains, buses, etc. It will replace your Drivers License. You will not be able to open an account without one, enter government buildings, or even get a job! It does nothing for the American Citizen but make life more difficult to survive. So your right, it won't do much good.
Reply:When the population of UK agrees to accepting them. We don't have to. Exactly how does having an I.D. card prevent terrorism? Nobody has enlightened me. The recent terrorists i.e. Doctors were known and were working here, obviously they passed as o.k., but nobody knew what was in their minds, how would them carrying an i.d. card prevented their terrorism. What is the real ulterior reason for this push for I.D. cards? Would the card be carrying an e- tag so they would know exactly where u r at a given time.

Pull the troops out. There are more than 1000 civilians died in Iraq every month. We declared war on them unprovoked. They were provoked to attack us.
