Or is this just another money making scheme ?
How will UK ID cards help prevent suicide bombers?
what it'll do is help them control us. I hope it doesn't work, and I know many who won't carry them. How will it stop the bombers? the ones in london were English citizens(not that they deserve that title) so they would have been given one, so they would still be like anyone else. Why should we have to carry them, I hope people see sense and don't carry them, they can't arrest everyone, prisons are full as it is. It's another lie to control the nation that they are handing over to the EU.
Reply:They won't. In Spain (where they already have ID cards) the bombs in Madrid were not prevented and the people who did it had cards. They were Spanish nationals.
NOW try to justify it.
Reply:they wont, its just another tax on everyone
Reply:It won't.Suicide bombers who are quite happy for their names to be known once they have carried out their attacks for the obvious reason that martyrdom is pointless when it is anonymous. ID cards just reflect New Labour's desire to nanny and control us.
Reply:It won't as the entire point of a suicide bomber is so he can be recognised after the event.
Reply:They won't. Spain's got an ID card system, it didn't stop trains getting blown up over there though.
The only way I'd accept a compulsory ID card is if it also acted as a passport. That way whatever it costs would be eliminated by the saving on never having to get a passport.
But it is a money making scheme wrapped up in the guise of public safety. It's rubbish.
Reply:They will in no way reduce the risk of suffering terrorist activity within the UK.or anywhere else.
Reply:Because the cards have a sensor on them which senses an explosive device and neutralises it.
Reply:so they can let us know who it was who blew us up silly
Reply:They won't, in fact they will add to the problem by giving the illusion of security. The cards will be as easy to fake as have any other form of id (regardless of any chip they have in them).
The fact that we will have to pay for something that we don't want that wont work and infringes our civil linerties i think is obscene.
Reply:On the one hand, it makes money and provides jobs through administration. On the other, it saves money.
I think marketing ID cards on the premise that it will somehow prevent terrorism is, at best, tenuous and, at worst, a lie. ID cards will probably not prevent illegal immigration either.
What they will do is give police the power to detain people who are not carrying one; cut down on fraudulent benefit claims; and enable targeted marketing. There are human rights issues at stake here, and we are at serious risk of becoming an Orwellian society. Some people say that the only people who oppose things like the ID card are people with something to hide. Not so, I have nothing to hide but I vehemently oppose this sort of intrusion.
