When will fairness come into play? If is 4 security reasons,we all no Brits can't be excused. The bad apples have already integrated %26amp; are Brits too,so if IDs are necessary why exempt them??
If ID cards are(no good)or(forced on)to Brits, why should it be compulsory 4 foreign nationals living in UK?
That is a good point, ID's for all!
Reply:Everyone including British born people should carry ID. In the UK when they changed the Driving license format they said it was to help improve ID risks etc. (from paper to paper %26amp; creditcard) I would welcome additional ID it will help reduce people abusing our system.
In the States the Real ID act comes into play in May '08, again to help reduces abuse by people. ID theft is becoming a big problem here and is always on the news in some form or other.
So do I want extra security or protection to protect my credit, my SSN, my British ID etc then yes.
Reply:bloody labour party are dragging this country into fascism. they wont rest untill we are all strutting around towing the party line and children are employed to spy on their own parents. i wonder when our flag gets changed to the eagle and swastika??
Reply:I partially agree with what your saying as we have a very frightening band of Islamic fundementalists who are home grown threatning our British democracy...I think anyone with parents or even grandparents that were born in certain Islamic countries that have come here should have ID cards, but to make an ex-soldier who fought in the battles of WW2 and can trace his family right back to his BRITISH roots shouldnt have to.
Reply:As an ex-offender, I can honestly say that only the very bad have anything to lose as result of ID cards. Most people about to be apprehended run away and don't believe those cop shows on TV. They get away far more often than not. Only the most insidious need worry. That we currently dislike the idea is proof only of the British sense of fair play. Once educated, (that's happening now), we'll have ID cards/chips and we should all be begging for them. I wasn't a high level criminal but I was a really effective thief, using amonst other things, fraud to buy my 'medication'. I would simply have carried the ID as nobody can just halt you in the street except the police who do so anyway. I wasn't stopped by a policeman/woman in several years. The ID card may have its flaws but will hopefully stop large amounts (tens/hundreds of thousands) of hateful people arriving. People who disagree with our way of life. Our way of life was hard come by (I believe it to be far better than in the 'States though perhaps not Australia/Canada etc) and it is possible that we may gradually lose a war in which we are defeated by default. With those who dislike democracy and women's rights etc, using our own laws and voting system as a weapon against us. Sounds incredible but those good honest Muslims who abide here and continue to arrive could find themselves having to vote for those, again, INSIDIOUS religious warriors. 'Having to' because it is shown that religous folk of any religion/denomination are easily swayed by their 'preachers' and I've seen lots of mullahs/visiting speakers in action because their 'sermons' are very often posted on the net. These can't be the teachings of GOD.

PS I'm not religous but love each and every person until they hurt someone etc and then I can often, with a sad heart, understand. I don't believe in hate. If I had an enemy, I don't think hate would be of much use.
No offence is meant by anything that I write and I seek, always, only to continue to learn. I accept all criticism for what it is.
I would love to have used less words but would have not addressed the question even in so far as I have. Very little
Reply:i personally agree that "I D" cards are a great item, i will be first in the Que for one, BUT then i have absolutely nothing to hide unlike most?
if it proves that to obtain one you must have a genuine valid british birth certificate %26amp; NHS health card, even better?
what a great weapon against illegal immigration?
then you will know in seconds who has a right to be here, and who has not.
so come on WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO HIDE.
Reply:have u something to hide?
Reply:The conservatives have pledged to scrap the idea if elected. Let's see if they keep their promise!
Reply:Very good point.
'Britishness' means, not having to prove to the State who you are when walking down the road, or sleeping in your own bed.
And why will STUDENTS have to have ID cards? To prove they are old enough to run up a huge student debt no thanks to easy binge drinking laws?
"It's time to put the State back in its cage."
BELOW: The issue with ID cards is the premise that the government considers that
** EVERYONE IS A CRIMINAL/TERRORIST/RAPIST **
Even some three year old girl. And under ID Cards, everyone is a suspect, for a crime that they WILL (possibly maybe not) commit at some point in the future.
Right now, the ONLY people who have to give DNA are suspects in a criminal investigation, and not your children.
