San Fran approves ID cards for illegal immigrants


We've been talking a lot lately about driver's licenses and other forms of identification for illegal immigrants.





The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has tentatively approved a measure allowing municipal identification cards for all - including illegal immigrants. Of course, this surprises few people. San Fran is proud of its place as a sanctuary city for the undocumented. According to the New York Times, the city would become the largest in the nation to provide ID cards to anyone who asks for it.

In San Francisco, supporters said that the ordinance was intended to make life easier for the large number of illegal immigrants working in the city, many of whom cannot get access to services because they have no formal identification. The city already has a "sanctuary" policy forbidding local law enforcement or other officials to assist with immigration enforcement.





"I think it's admitting the reality of the situation that we depend on, our tourist and hotel industry depends on, a labor force that's supplied by, for lack of a better term, undocumented residents," said Tom Ammiano, the supervisor who sponsored the bill. Mr. Ammiano described the measure as "a passport of sorts," to "take the kid to the library or open a bank account, or report a crime without being deported."

What do you think about ID cards for illegal immigrants?
If the government ID's illegal immigrants they should automatically deport them. The idea that instead they would give them a way to identify themselves during their illegal stay is ludicrous.
Reply:Nothing San Franciso does surprises me. They are the most Anti-American city in the whole US. They are idiots and the Federal Government should cut off all funds to them and force them to enforce the immigration law. That or we can give the decent people a warning that they have so long to get out of the state before it is annexed and kicked out of the Union.





That BS about "keeping track" of them is just a sneaky attempt at tricking those of us that are against illegal immigration. Mark my words, next thing you know they will be voting and all the other rights afforded only to American Citizens will be given to them.
Reply:Surely if you know who they are to give them id they are not illegal. If they are illegal send them home.





By giving them legal status after they arrive you will never deter the flood of illegal immigrants, if they have a valid reason to be in a country then they must declare it before they arrive not sneek in and plead asylum after they have been caught.
Reply:I actually think it's a pretty good idea. It's a good way to keep tabs on who they are and what they are up to. I don't see what harm it could do.

Reply:I think it's a bad idea. It sounds appealing b/c it suggests that the Govt could keep track of them w/ specialized ID cards. However, there is some potential that they could be altered to look like "real" ID's, allowing any illegal who can get one to never worry about getting busted.
Reply:I guess that America wants another civil war? It is gettiing to that point with all of the illegals that live here now. My City is saturated with them. You cannot even get out of your frichn truck and the morons are jumping in the back? Next time I will leave them there and take them back to the border......!
Reply:well give them a special card. one that gives them rights as a citizen and that we need to treat them the same i mean we are aLL imigrants. dont beleive me the american indians came from the land bridge. from alaska and russia...so get over it


and i agree we should make them go to prisson instead of being deported. thats just low
Reply:I personally think it's a joke. You're giving an illegal alien access to public and government services that legal residents should be allowed to use. There mere presence in this country is a slap in the face to every hard working, legally present person here. If anything, these cards are nothing more than a way for the City of San Francisco to collect revenue. The do little else.
Reply:When we catch them we should deport them not just give them id cards.
Reply:Issuing ID cards to illegal aliens is a clear violation of immigration law. Cities that do so should be sanctioned and enforcement efforts should be put into place. Cities do NOT have authority over immigration issues. Just as it would be against the law to deprive civil rights, it is against the law to expand them in immigration situations.
Reply:bad idea. San Francisco should be blocked off from the rest of us. any city that harbors illegals do not need to get any funds from the rest of us. i think i will be emailing them tomorrow. this is wrong.
Reply:I believe we should give them ID's and when they come in for them put them on a bus back to Mexico. That way we would not have to go and look for them they would come to us.
