What do you think about the introduction of ID cards?

Do you think it's a good idea that all of your personal details will be held on a database, and that the government can keep track of your every movement, including how much bread you buy?

What do you think about the introduction of ID cards?
I heard that in Australia and US (I think, 2 countries that use ID cards anyway) there is a much higher rate of identity theft, because all someone would need to steal your identity is one card instead of having to go through loads of bills etc. to get all your details. I think it's the most stupid idea and you'll probably end up having to have an ID card to prove who you are in order to get an ID card, or you'll need a passport, driving licence or some other such thing that not everybody has.

Then again if they introduced them and someone stole the identity of someone like the prime minister and got all his money then they'd just see how silly an idea it was.
Reply:When we get away from all of paranoia, can you prove your a citizen of the U.S. so you can vote and own property as prescribed by law?

This is the reason that many other countries have identity cards, is just to prove who you are, then what rights you have as a citizen, which are many in some places.
Reply:It is great to have ID Cards. This will solve the problem of multiple voting and selecting a wrong candidate to run your Government. It is also good to keep track of illegal immigrants, a problem which the U.S. is facing now.
Reply:why does the gov need to know everything about me? never did before. the usa is getting like this too. its not the govs business or juristiction to regulate my whereabouts or dealings. if im a criminal then charge me if not fock off. i spent 4.5 years on probation, 3 years prison %26amp; 2 years parole. its left me feeling like im still there 6 years later. soon everyone will feel this way but with a false sense of patriotism %26amp; well being. still imprisonment even if they dont realize it.
Reply:It isn't self centred and paranoid at all, it is exactly what the British government plans on doing. I think it is a bad idea. In theory it would be good to prove who you are but we have other forms of identity already. Youcan get id cards if you choose to but they are easily faj=ked and I don't believe anyone should have the right to know personal details of anyone without good reason. It would be easier to steal identities if all the information was stored on one card so in practise, it wouldn't work anyway.
Reply:What the hell are you talking about, and why the hell would the government care about your bread consumption habits. If you dont want them to know what you've bought than pay cash and shred the reciept. If you seriously believe the government wants to watch you close enough to keep files detailed enough to include grocery lists than you're both incredibly self-centered and paranoid.
Reply:we lose our rights step by step. later the government will introduce other laws to get rid more of our right
