Does a company have the right to ask for a copy of my ID card/bank statements?

This company is an online betting service and they want to verify my address. I don't feel comfortable just handing out copies of my ID card or my bank statements.

Reply:Identity theft is a huge business... and while most of us like to think that someone has to steal your wallet or rummage through your garbage to get information, we don't realize that most of what these criminals get, they actually get from us giving to them voluntarily.

Sure, the company can ASK for the information, but that doesn't mean we have to give it... do yourself a favor, keep your private information private.
Reply:i wouldn't give info like that to an online betting service.

or to any online company.

If you don't feel comfortable, don't give them the info.
Reply:Nor should you!!
Reply:Just walk away! Those guys sound like they would make copies, then rob you two weeks from now, when you were working at the new job at MickyD's.
