Is the projected cost of £5.2 billion for ID cards worth it?

If youre a Commie yeah.......

Its gettin more and more like post war Russia in this F*ckin country, its just theyre doin it all so slowly, that no-ones noticing !!

Is the projected cost of £5.2 billion for ID cards worth it?
One of the really big mistakes we made after the Cold War ended was to declare that Marxism was dead. We just assumed that Marxism was dead and moved on, allowing many of its ideals to mutate into new forms and many of its champions to continue their work uninterrupted, sometimes filled with a vengeance and a renewed zeal for another assault on the capitalist West.
Reply:Sir,

The cost is worth it to the persons who benefit. Unfortunately, those who benefit are not the same taxpayers who will bear the cost. Contrary to a previous answer nowever, I don't believe it will benefit the "commies". (Anyone who has sufficient intelligence to speak the language and walk upright knows that philosophy is bankrupt.) The persons who benefit will be the same persons who benefit from an interventionist foreign policy which has exploited the poor and propped up dictators in the oil-rich Islamic countries and thus brought down their hatred on the west.
Reply:No. In many respects, the events of 7 July 2005 have been used as an excuse to infringe (unnecessarily) on our freedoms and ID cards is just another example.

The same individuals who are disproportionately stopped and questioned by the police now will be following introduction of ID cards and they will be young Black people and UK residents of Asian descent. They will have some additional demerits though, namely the possibility of putting all kinds of information on there that can then be used for all kinds of other purposes, open to abuse by those in positions of authority and hackable by criminals.

A complete waste of time!
Reply:Not really.

What purpose will they serve?

Admittedly it will be more convenient to have one ID card rather than "Bring in 3 forms of identification - a driving licence, a passport, a utility bill" etc when we go to open a bank account or something. I mean, if you don't drive or travel abroad you're stuck aren't you?

But otherwise I don't see the point in them. It all seems a bit "Big Brother" like to me. Makes me feel uneasy. We are already the most watched country in the world!
Reply:The Socialist Peoples' Komitbureau has decreed that Kommissariat Comrade Blair and Vice Kommissariat Comrade Brown is beneficial leader to the British peoples and thus must bow down and obey his will. Or else- perhaps the Ministry of Love can correct you in Room 101...?

For the German company that qalready won the tender behind closed doors?

Who better than the Jerries to issue us serial numbers- it's not like they haven't any experience, is it?

Welcome to Stasi-land, UK territorial division, subplot Beta:

Reply:Nope, a lot of the terrorists within Britain are British born and bred, it doesn't define who the terrorists are nor will anything be done about illegal immigrants.

It's just a waste of the tax payers money being spent in a way that the majority don't agree with, just like we're part of the EU yet nobody i know agrees with it. This country is sh*t.
Reply:No....and i`m not going to pay it anyway.
Reply:answer at the top says it all thats the question u shoulda asked .
Reply:I don't know, but I think it is a rip. My license is due for renewal in Feb. It is amazing what I have to bring to prove it is 'me'. I just bought a car, %26amp; the DMV believed me then. I have had the same name for 14 years, the one before that for 36 years. So, I have to take at least 6 kinds of ID in order to RENEW my license. Not get one, renew it. There have been no lapses in my licenses, or registration. I plan on taking a tag from my underwear %26amp; bra, just in case they want that too...
Reply:That comes down to I think about £180 per taxpayer.......

Why not just micro-chip us all and be done with it!
Reply:Complete and utter waste of time and money. It is alleged that there are up to a million illegals already in the country already. As for the legal population of this country it smacks of Big Brother. Finally, forgers will find a way round it anyway.
