Id fraud how is it possible? wouldnt applications for loans and credit cards be coming to my address?

Not necessarily. Many times they use a different address and the notices go there.

The only way you would find out is if the credit company does a search and finds your real address, then they might, or might not, send notices to your home.

People move all the time and the bank just uses the address reported on the application. If you were to move you would have to contact your legitimate creditors and tell them your new address.

If they have your information they can do this on line. That's why I only exchange personal information face to face.
Reply:My former son-in-law is currently awaiting a court date for identity theft. And whose identities was he trying to steal? He was using the Social Security numbers for his children, my grandchildren, who live with their mother.

With certain basic information, getting real I.D. for a fake person is not all that difficult and no, I will not tell how.
Reply:They fill out the application using your name, birthdate, social, and their address and phone number.

Where I live there is alot of theft from mailboxes. People steal mail right out of your mailbox and return the credit card applications with the address correction pointing to their physical mailing address. Thats why so many people install "locking" mailboxes now. So that no one has access accept you and the postman.
