Can I get a State ID card if I have a Bench Warrant?

So heres the deal. I am moving at the end of the month out-of-state and I have a minor bench warrant out for my arrest. I dont see any reason to waste a week or 2 in jail dealing with this warrant so Im trying to avoid it at all costs. If I go to jail right now I would probably lose my job, leaving yet another scar on my resume so turning myself in so I can spend my last few weeks here in jail is a no-go.

I lost my wallet last week and I have a paycheck I need to cash but I dont know if the DOL will call the police if I go get a state ID card.

What do you think?

Can I get a State ID card if I have a Bench Warrant?
No, the license bureau won't call the police. The reinstatement bureau will! Anyway, if you get a state identification card, it cancels out your driver's license. If you don't have a license go for it...but also, as stated above, just get someone else to cash it for you.
Reply:yes in ur case. If u where in another state then yes u could. But do this sign ur check over 2 a friend and have him cah it for u. You can even have someone send u the money and give it back 2 when u mail it 2 them.
Reply:Will a friend or relative cash it for you at their bank? I think you can sign it over to them and deposit it. Then the bank will hold it until it clears but your friend or relative could give you the cash.
Reply:when you go to get your ID, the first thing MVD will do by protocol is to run your 28's and 21's and will come up with your warrant. Will they call the police? that's a crap shoot but the chances of getting your ID is going to be slim to none for the main reason there's a restriction on you. A birth Certificate may work to get your check cashed but usually, they want a photo ID. Tough spot. But here's something to consider, Maybe you can see if paying your fine and getting the warrant quashed will end your issues also, living on the lamb is only going to catch up with you sooner or later and only cause you grief and frustration and most likely, at the very most inconvenient time, costing you a bigger problem . Maybe taking care of this by your standards in a controlled environment that you created might be the best choise in the long haul. Heck, maybe you can throw yourself at the mercy of the court and ask the judge to allow you to make restitution in payments ($) or split your time served into sectors. If your working, there's a very good chance that the court will order weekend incarceration or ( work release) and get this behind you. If I was in your shoes, It would be my luck that the best opportunity in life would come my way that would set me up for the rest of my life making $180,000.00 a year income, doing nothing but having fun making this income and this pisss-asss warrant would catch up with me and ruin my life and that oppertunity and still spend that weekend in jail back where the warrant was issued. What ever you do...Good luck to you. :)
Reply:You did the crime, now be a man and do the time!Remember, you decided to do something agansed the law, you didnt have to but you did. So dont be a wimp! turn yourself in!

  1. I was arrested at the DMV while getting a new license because I had a bench warrant, so they definitely WILL do that. And it sucks.
